The research group “Modelling Peculiar Stars” -MEP (Modelos de Estrellas Peculiares)- aims at modelling early type stars with either emission lines or chemical anomalies, stressing the wind structure and applying rigorous solutions of the Radiative Transfer problem.
These models include, as much as possible, dynamical, thermodynamical and non-thermal processes which may help in reproducing the observations.

The research activity of the MEP can be separated into four fields, namely, Reflector

  1. Modelling the dynamics and thermodynamics of the stellar wind and expanding atmospheres, introducing thermal and non-thermal phenomenae in order to reproduce high resolution observations from earth and space.

  2. Searching for non-LTE solutions of the Radiative Transfer problem in moving media. Rigorous solutions in different geometries, and different distributions of temperature and velocity.

  3. Modelling stellar photospheres in order to reproduce the observed quemical anomalies.

  4. Analysis of individual cases in order to provide semiempirical models.
